First Class

Welcome to our Enrichment Master Painting Class Blog! We'll keep you updated on all of the artistry and fun happening in our Spring Session painting class.

First Class:

8 students, grades K - 3, rolled up their sleeves and put on their smocks!

Before we started painting, we learned about these famous Art Movements:

• Realism
• Impressionism
• Pointillism
• Cubism
• Surrealism
• Pop Art

We then played a matching game. Can you guess the Art Movement? Answers at the bottom of this post!

We were ready to start our painting exercise. Students made their own palettes, chose their brushes, and picked their... fruit! A simple piece of fruit is a great subject when you are practicing different styles and brushstrokes.

Our fruity choices

The young artists got to work, painting the fruit in the different styles we had just learned about. A few students finished their paintings, but some of these are still in process, and will be finished at the beginning of the next class.

After Break, students will begin work on their first full canvas painting.  They may choose any subject, and must try to paint in the style of one of the Art Movements we learned about. First we will draw sketches, make color choices, and then paint away!
